Gerald Amos Bechtel

Jerry Bechtel, 86, longtime resident of Altus, Oklahoma, passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at Comanche County Memorial Hospital in Lawton. The family will greet friends from 1:00 – 4:00 PM on Monday, August 26th at Kincannon Funeral Home.

Gerald Amos “Jerry” Bechtel was born on February 1, 1938, in Berks County, Pennsylvania to David W. Bechtel and Ellen L. (Leorhig) Bechtel Walker. He married Shirley A. Boyer on September 29, 1957, in Oley, Pennsylvania and to this union two children were born, Brian and Brenda. Jerry joined the United States Air Force in in 1955, and faithfully served his country until 1980. He obtained an Associate of Applied Science degree and worked as a Flight Engineer throughout his career. Jerry enjoyed golfing, fishing, and anything to do with old cars or airplanes. His dedication to community and serving was evident as a Scottish Rite Freemason, a Shriners member, and being actively involved with the VFW and the Salvation Army. 

Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley. His memory will live on in his son, Brian K. Bechtel; daughter, Brenda K. Bechtel; three grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many other family and friends.
