Gerald August Kilburg

Gerald August Kilburg, 89 of Altus, OK; passed away surrounded by family at his home on Thursday, February 23, 2023. The family will receive friends at 6:30 PM Monday, February 27, 2023 at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church with a rosary to follow at 7:00 PM. A memorial mass will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Joseph David officiating. Services are under the care of the Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Inurnment will take place at a later date at the St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Bellevue, Iowa.

Gerald was born on July 21, 1933 in Bellevue, Iowa to Norbert and Armella (Yoerger) Kilburg. He grew up and attended Bellevue schools until the 8th grade. Gerald served his country from 1955 – 1957 and attained his GED in the US Army. He married Helen Mae Thola on January 18, 1958 in Maquoketa, Iowa. From this union came three loving children, Audrey (Gil), Christine, and Jeff (Marcella).

Gerald worked with his hands all his life. He really enjoyed working with wood. Gerald’s job most of his life was building cabinetry and countertops. He also liked hunting, and tinkering with cars, especially old Mopar’s.

Left to cherish his memories are Helen of the home, two daughters, Audrey Brzycki and husband Gil and Christine Stych; son, Jeff Kilburg and wife Marcella; two sisters, Lorna Specht and Mary Ehlers and husband Burton; one brother, Merle Kilburg and wife Marilyn; six grandchildren, Samantha, James, Dustin, Jessica, Heather, and Mindy; five great-grandchildren, Skyler, Kelsie, Vincent, Kaleb, and Karissa; nieces, nephews and friends.
