Gerald Lee "Jerry" Christopher, Jr., 62, Altus, died Thursday, July 2, 2015 at his home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Keith Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow at the Willow Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home. Jerry was born October 30, 1952 in Rapid City, South Dakota to Gerald Lee and Euleta Maxine (Walker) Chirstopher. He graduated from Garrett High School in Charleston, South Carolina. Jerry was drafted into the United States Army following high school and served two years in Germany prior to his honorable discharge. When he returned to the States he attended the College of Charleston, Charleston, South Carolina. Jerry dedicated over 35 years in the hospitality industry, beginning in Charleston in 1980. He moved to Altus in the early 1990s, managing the Best Western Motel, and was currently manager of the Quartz Mountain Lodge and Conference Center. Jerry married Robin Gayle Couch in November of 2009. He was of the Baptist faith, and was active in the Altus Chamber of Commerce, participating in various fundraisers and civic activities over the years. Jerry was dedicated to helping others by volunteering his time. In his younger days on the East coast he enjoyed surfing and riding dirt bikes. Later he was involved in farming, raising horses and airplanes. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Euleta, and his wife, Robin. He is survived by his son, Keith Christopher of Charleston, S.C.; step sons, Rusty, Levi and Austin; sister, Debra Greene of Atlanta, GA; two grandchildren, Kase and Lea Christopher; three nieces, Amy Hamilton and husband Keith; Lauren Coffman and husband Drew; Whitney Leach and husband Joseph, all of Atlanta, GA; two nephews, Christopher Greene of Atlanta, GA; Jimmy Greene of wife Megan of Sylvania, Georgia and many friends. The Christopher family will greet friends Wednesday at 1 p.m. prior to services. Additional parking for the service is available behind the funeral home, Best Western to the South or Western Sizzlin’ to the North.
