Gilbert Garcia, Sr., 57. Altus, passed away on Friday, February 19, 2016 at Integris Health in Edmond, OK. A Mass of Christian Burial has been scheduled for 10:30 AM, Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church with Father Corey Stanley officiating. Burial will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.
Gilbert was born on December 26, 1958 to Alfredo and Francis (Salazar) Garcia in Brownfield, Texas. Gilbert and Tina Valdez were united in marriage on September 8, 1993 in Altus, OK. He was a Licensed Journeyman Plumber and had worked for Hollis Plumbing for twenty four years. Gilbert was a member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church. He was a huge Dallas Cowboys, and a OU Sooners and OKC Thunder fan. He liked playing dominoes and dancing. Gilbert was happiest when he was spending time with his family and children. His grandchildren were his pride and joy.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Maria Luisa Garcia; and a brother, Arturo Garcia.
He is survived by his wife, Tina, of the home; four daughters, Angelia Garcia, Tana Flores and husband, Adan, Marisol Garcia and Kelli Garcia; one son, Gilbert Garcia, Jr.; three grandchildren, Joseline, Miranda and Dezmond (who is on the way.); fifteen brothers and sisters, Mary Guerra and husband, John, Alfredo Garcia, Jr. and wife, Elodia, Lydia Alcorta and husband, Freddy, Irene Guerra and husband, Raul, Elessa Sanchez, Flora Lopez, Pedro Garcia and wife, Kris, Janie Farley and husband, Clem, Rita Garcia, Rudy Garcia and wife, Janie, Michael Garcia and wife, Maryann, Alice Garcia, Lorenzo Garcia, Sylvia Garcia and Alfredo Garcia, II and wife, Ruby. He is also survived by his best friend, Roland Ruiz, and numerous other nieces and nephews.
A rosary service will be held at 6:00 PM Tuesday at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Gilbert's name to the Kincannon Funeral Home.
