Glendon T. Allen, 85, Altus, went to meet his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Going Home services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, October 22, 2011 at the Church of God in Altus with Rev. Bill Estep officiating. Burial with Marine Corps Honor Guard will follow services at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home. Glendon T. Allen was born September, 16, 1926 in Cookietown, Oklahoma to Everett “Hogy” and Ruth (Britton) Allen. He attended Altus Public Schools. He enlisted in the United States Marines and served in the Pacific Theater during WWII at Okinawa, Japan, Ryu Kyu island in China, and was a survivor of Pearl Harbor. He was honorably discharged in October of 1946. He married the love of his life, Carmie Goss, in Altus, Oklahoma on April 6, 1947. He owned and operated the First National Barber Shop from 1957 until he retired and closed the shop in 1996. He was a member of the American Legion and the Altus Church of God. He enjoyed camping, traveling, driving his motor home, collecting rocks, playing guitar and spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved granddaughter, Nikola “Nikki” Brooke Huddleston, and two brothers, Alvin and Grady Allen. He is survived by his wife, Carmie; two daughters, Glenda Morgan and husband, Joseph, of Waldorf, MD, and ReDonna Hendrickson of Altus, OK; two grandchildren, Heather Gonzalez-Seckinger and husband, Karl Seckinger, of Raleigh, NC and Reyna Ingraham and husband, Marvin, of Altus, OK; and two step grandchildren, Cheri Opie and husband, Paul, of San Diego, CA and Nicholas Morgan and wife, Megan, of San Diego, CA; nine great grandchildren; two brothers, Alfred Allen of Parkersburg, WV, and Donald B. Allen and wife, Sonja, of Altus, OK; a sister, Mildred Elder and husband, Floyd, of Parkersburg, WV; and numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. The Allen Family will greet friends Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Kincannon Funeral Home.
