Gloria Jean “MEME” Tyra, 65, Altus, passed away Saturday, February 4, 2012 at her sons, Justin, home in Mangum, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at the Southside Baptist Church in Altus with Rev. Jason Duree officiating. Burial will follow services at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home. Gloria Jean Noblitt was born April 25, 1946 in Brawley, California to Carl and Mellie (Argo) Noblitt. She attended school in Hammon, Oklahoma. She married Kenneth Trya on April 1, 1975 in Vernon, Texas. She was a homemaker who worked tirelessly as a caring mother and loving wife. She also worked for several years in the health care field as a caregiver for the elderly through the Department of Human Services. She was a member of the Southside Baptist Church, enjoyed sewing and quilting, spending time with her church friends, and playing card games with her children and grandchildren. The kids say they had to watch her close during card games because she often tried to “bend the rules.”
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Kenneth, three brothers, Stanley, Carl, Jr., and G.B., one sister, Ruby, a sister-in-law, Pat Noblitt, and a great granddaughter, Devyn Nicole Kerbo. She is survived by three daughters, Mellonie Almaguer and husband, Fred, of Granite, OK, Shelly Bear and husband, Carl, of Mangum, OK, and Stacy Tyra of Seminole, OK; two sons, L. D. Ormand and wife, Stephanie, and Justin Tyra and wife, Brianna, all of Mangum, OK; one sister, Gerri Baker and husband, Kenneth, of Hammon, OK; two brothers, Travis Noblitt of Brawley, CA, and Darrell Noblitt and wife, Erica, of Oklahoma City, OK; ten grandchildren, Devin Kerbo and wife, Tori, and Tristan Pineda, all of Mangum, OK, Tyler Johnson of Seminole, OK, Trevor and Andrew Ormand, both of Mangum, OK, Dillon and Leslie Almaguer, both of Granite, OK, and Jordan Patrick, Coby Bear and Bransen Tyra, all of Mangum, OK; one great grandson, Cooper Kerbo, of Mangum, Oklahoma; and many friends. The Tyra Family will greet friends from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday evening at Kincannon Funeral Home.
