Gregory Philip Camp, a husband, a father, a grandfather, and a man of God, died September 11, 2021 in his home in Altus, Oklahoma. He was 76.
Greg was born April 19, 1945 in Faversham Kent, England, United Kingdom. Greg is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Camp; his father, Walter; his devoted children Bret, Mark and wife, wife, Lynn, and Misty and husband, Ryan Armstrong; and his five grandchildren, Jade, Noah, Shane, Khloe and Paige.
Greg had a passion for serving his country and his community. He devoted 20 years of his life to the Military where he retired as an Army National Guard Staff Sergeant and Vietnam Veteran. His 27-year career in the State of Oklahoma Department of Corrections ended with a long list of achievements. He managed the airport in Altus for 6 years and afterwards enjoyed a well-deserved retirement with his family.
Greg was a humble servant of the Lord, always willing to go above and beyond for the people he loved, and even people he didn’t know. For example, he volunteered with Angel Flight Oklahoma and the Young Eagles Program.
Everybody who knew Greg knew if you couldn’t find him, he was at his hangar, probably cleaning the plane for the fourth time that day. If he wasn’t there, he was with his second love, the golf course. Greg loved adventures, most of which ended in memorable stories, some that he probably would not want shared with just anyone. No matter what, Greg always made you feel like family and put a smile on your face. Greg: the man, the myth, the legend.
