Guadalupe Tamez, 75, Altus, passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at the Plantation Village Nursing Home. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at the Kincannon Funeral Home with Frank Salazar officiating. Burial will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home. Guadalupe Mata was born on September 13, 1938 in Elsa, Texas to Eusebio and Aurelia (Arias) Mata. She married Raymundo Tamez in 1959 in Sebastian, Texas. She was a dedicated housewife all of her life. She enjoyed dancing, fishing, sewing and collecting dolls. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and eight brothers, Isidrio, Elsavio, Jr., Pablo, Aurralio, Feliciano, Rosalio, Jose and Pedro. Survivors include three sons, Daniel Tamez of Amber, OK, and Juan Tamez and Jose Tamez, both of Altus, OK; four grandchildren, Daniel, Jr., Jessica, Patrick and John Paul; three sisters, Maria Salazar of Hobart, OK, Juana Ruiz of Altus, OK, and Maria DeJesus Mata of Altus, OK; a longtime friend, Johnny Martinez; and several nieces, nephews and friends. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Additional parking for the service is available behind the funeral home, Best Western to the South or Western Sizzlin’ to the North.
