Gwendolyn Annie Miller, 85, lifelong Jackson County resident, of Headrick, passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2012 in Lawton, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Monday, January 16, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Headrick with Rev. Dan Lambert officiating. Burial will follow in the Headrick Cemetery under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home.
Gwen or Queen Miller, as she was called, was born on September 5, 1926 in Olustee, Oklahoma to Herman and Eva (Helmstetler) Brinkman. She was baptized in 1939 and graduated from Ozark High School. She married Loyd Wayne Miller on March 31, 1945 at the First Baptist Church in Headrick. To this union a son, Mackey Wayne "Max" Miller, was born in 1950. The couple were long time farmers in the Headrick Community. She loved to roller skate when she was little and also liked her cattle. Gwen was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Headrick.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1996, her parents, three brothers, Herman, Jr., John (Bud), and Linel Brinkman, five sisters, Mattie Hall, Oneta Morris, Naomi Dunegan Combs, Germa Lee Roberts, and LaVeta Simons, a sister-in-law, Juanita Miller Jahns, and several nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her son, Max Miller of Headrick, OK; two grandchildren, Jennifer Miller of Tulsa, OK, and Jordan Miller of Headrick, OK; two nieces, Joyce Harris of Altus, OK, and Nancy Webb of Lamesa, TX; two nephews, John Brinkman of Lone Wolf, OK, and Rodney Simons of Borger, TX; and several other family members.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 - 5:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
