Hazel V. Childers, 90, Altus, passed away on Friday, July 21, 2023 at The Courtyard at Magnolia Creek. The family will hold a private graveside service at the Altus City Cemetery under the care of the Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Hazel V. Frazier was born on July 1, 1933 in Rita, West Virginia to Walter and Norma (Dean) Frazier. She graduated high school and proudly served her country in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1955. Hazel married Leon Childers on October 30, 1955 at Carswell Air Force Base, Texas. She worked for the Altus Public Schools for more than 20 years as a cook for Roosevelt and Rivers Elementary Schools. Hazel enjoyed cooking, no matter who was at her table. She was always a “woman on the go” and cherished the time spent with her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leon; and son-in-law, David R. Jones.

Survivors include her children, Donnie Childers and wife, Vanesa, Terri Davis and husband, Brien, Ronnie Childers and wife, Kelly, and Sherri Jones; her grandchildren, Toby Childers and wife, Scarlet, Dusty Davis and wife, Amanda, Spud Davis and wife, Jana, Logan Childers and wife, Sara, Cole Childers and wife, Chandler, and Cade Childers and fiancée, Morgan Peek; eleven great grandchildren, Macy, Christian, Easton, Bray, Katie Beth, Ella, Benton, Avery, Grayson, Ruby, and Delta; brother-in-law, Wendell Childers; sister-in-law, Peachie Childers; and many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family would like to thank the caregivers of Tamarack Assisted Living, The Courtyards at Magnolia Creek, and JCMH Hospice for the love and wonderful care they have provided to Hazel.
Hazel had a heart of gold and would lend a helping hand to anyone in need. So, in lieu of flowers, the family asks that you do an act of random kindness for a stranger or give to a charity in honor of Hazel.
