Henry L. Lauer, 70, Altus, passed away Sunday, November 17, 2019 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Celebration of Life services have been scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday, November 23, 2019 at Joe Dan's Saloon and Dance Hall, 1900 E. Broadway in Altus. Cremation services have been provided by Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
Henry Louis Lauer was born on March 30, 1949 in Mexico, Missouri to Edmond B. and Vera M. (Willis) Lauer. He joined the US Army in 1969 and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Henry was honorably discharged as a Sergeant in January of 1971. He received numerous awards including the National Defense Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal with 1st Oak Leaf Cluster, Vietnam Service Medal with 2 bronze service stars, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. After his discharge, Henry mowed yards and did odd jobs for many people in Altus. He was a neat, clean and efficient person, very much a perfectionist.
His parents preceded him in death. Survivors include two brothers, Richard and James Lauer, and many friends.
