Howard Lee Brewer

April 14, 1929 — June 22, 2016

Howard Lee Brewer, 87, of Altus, went home to meet his Lord Jesus on June 22, 2016. Services to celebrate Howard’s life will be held on Friday, June 24 at 2 p.m. at Kincannon Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin Baker and Rev. Ralph Chapman officiating. Burial will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends Thursday, June 23 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Howard Brewer was born on April 14, 1929 in Eldorado, OK to Robert L. and Edna (Coke) Brewer. The family moved to Lamesa, TX when Howard was 6 years old. Howard graduated from Union High School in Lamesa, TX and then returned to Altus at the age of 19 where he spent the next 68 years until his death. Howard married the love of his life, Florene Lindsey, on May 20, 1950 in Altus, OK. They celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary in May. Howard established Brewer’s Auto Supply in 1958. He served as a deacon, member of Gideons International, president of AARP, scout master, president of the Western Prairie Good Sams, and was a member of the Western Okies Holiday Rambler Club. Howard enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and abroad. He especially enjoyed Blue Grass Festivals and spending the winter months at Bibleville in the Rio Grande Valley where he went on several mission trips to Mexico. Howard was a loving, devoted father and grandfather who spent many hours camping and playing games with the youngest to the oldest.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Carol C. Brewer, and three sisters, Marie Lambright, Virginia Cornett and Ovetta Webster.

He is survived by his wife, Florene Brewer; four sons and their wives, Cecil and Debby Brewer of Duncan, Ricky and Marsha Brewer of Altus, Doyle and Nancy Brewer of Ponca City and David and Kim Brewer of Altus; his grandchildren, Michelle and Jantz Bain, Chris and Banner Brewer, Joshua and Katie Brewer, and Missy Bates, all of Altus, Amy and Rick Cordova, Carey and Clint Carter, all of Oklahoma City, Dr. Jeremy and Adeline Brewer of Little Rock, AR, Lana and Sean Gragert of Choctaw, and Jacob Brewer of Ponca City; and 21 great-grandchildren, Brayden Brewer, Baileigh Brewer, Lauren and Josh Guderyon, Jayla Bain, Canyon Bain, Madison Carter, Emma Carter, Payton Carter, Alliyah Carter, Asia Brewer, Ayla Brewer, Emery Cordova, Lennon Cordova, Ezra Cordova, Madelyn Gragert, Lydia Gragert, Koby Bates, Kelby Bates, Shyanne Brewer and Lynnden Brewer. He is also survived by two brothers and their wives, Eugene and Glenda Brewer and Duane and Cecillia Brewer; two sisters and their husbands, Nadine and Jimmy Allen and Kaye and Del Linders; and a host of friends and relatives.

Additional parking for the service is available behind the funeral home, Days Inn to the South and Western Sizzlin' to the North.
