James Brazell, 86, Altus, passed away on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services have been scheduled for 2:00 PM, Saturday, September 1, 2018 at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Jeff Moore officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.. James Dale Brazell was born on October 14, 1931 to James Henry Hershel and Eugenia (Knight) Brazell in Warren, Oklahoma. He graduated from Warren High School in 1949 and married Lois Neal on March 3, 1950. James entered the United States Army in 1951, was a Field Artillery Operator and Intelligence Specialist during the Korean War and retired with the rank of First Sergeant in 1974 following 21 years of service to his county. Following his military service, he attended Altus Junior College, then attained his undergraduate degree and his Masters Degree in Psychology from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Oklahoma. James enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, and watching television sports. He was an avid OU fan and loved watching the Dallas Cowboys. His most precious times were spent with family.
James is preceded in death by his parents; son, James Neal Brazell; two sisters, Ella Jo Ankerholz and Mary Benthal Collins; and a daughter-in-law, Marci Jan Brazell.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories his loving wife, Lois, of the home; two sons, Randy Brazell, and Jeff Brazell and his wife, Sema; seven grandchildren, Helen Marie Brazell, Amber Schacter, Amanda Smith, James Dale Brazell, Quinton Brazell, Jessica Brazell and Marli Brazell; one sister, Sammye Cupp, and a host of other family and friends.
The Brazell family will greet friends from 5:00 - 7:00 pm, Friday, August 31, 2018 at the funeral home.
