James Weldon Huckeba, 83, Altus, passed away Sunday, March 27, 2016 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Graveside services have been scheduled for 3:00 PM, Thursday, March 31, 2016 at the Blair Cemetery with Clint Burns officiating.
James Weldon Huckeba was born June 24, 1932 to Carl and Goldie Mae (Funderburk) Huckeba in Mangum, Oklahoma. Huck graduated from Altus High School in 1950; served his country in the United States Army from 1953 until he was honorably discharged as a Platoon Sergeant in 1955. He hauled cattle for Albert and Scotty Scoggins at Scoggins Cattle Company for thirty one years. He later worked for Hartsell Morris, hauling cattle for twenty years. Huck also worked for Dobbs Rentals as a handy man for over 20 years. He was a member of the Church of Christ; enjoyed watching football and visiting with friends. Huck said he made a few mistakes but he always tried to make it right.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister Maxine Nall.
Huck requested friends and family coming to the service please dress casually.
