James Andrew Peard, 83, Altus, passed away Sunday, November 29, 2015 in Frisco, Texas. Funeral services have been scheduled for 10:00 AM, Thursday, December 3, 2015 at the St. Paul's Episcopal Church with the Rev. C. Suzanne Mollison officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.
James was born March 25, 1932 to Stephen and Rose (Kusek) Peard in Luzerne, Pennsylvania. James enlisted into the US Air Force in 1951. He served during Vietnam and retired as a Master Sergeant after 26 years. He received numerous awards including the National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award with five Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with five Oak Leaf Clusters and the Air Force Medal. James and Mary Kathryn Miller were united in marriage on January 15, 1955 in Columbus, Ohio. She passed away on December 24, 1994. He was a member of the St. Paul's Episcopal Church while he lived in Altus and was currently a member of the Grace Avenue United Methodist Church in Frisco, Texas. He enjoyed watching football, especially the Dallas Cowboys, Ohio State and Penn State.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, a grandson, Rodney L. "RJ" Brown, Jr., a brother, George Peard, and a sister, Clara Fetch. He leaves behind three daughters, Barbara Anne Peard of Frisco, TX, Claire M. Brown and husband, Rodney, Sr., of Frisco, TX, and Rebecca Lux and husband, Fred, of Derby, KS; one son, James Curtis Peard and wife, Kathy, of Broken Arrow, OK; three grandchildren, Matthew Brown, Ryan Beckett and Chelsey Beckett; one great-grandson, Nathaniel James Starr; a sister, Marie Kambies of Delaware; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
