James Richard Griffith, 83, Eldorado, passed away at his home, Tuesday, June 28, 2011. Graveside services will be 11:00 am Friday, July 1, 2011 at the Eldorado Cemetery under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home. James was born on October 6, 1927 in Eldorado, OK to Edward E. and Mildred E. (Brownlow) Griffith. He attended school in Eldorado, and as a young man, he worked on the family farm. He served his country in the United States Army from 1950 until 1953. He was honorably discharged as a Sergeant. He was wounded in Korea, almost losing his life. After his service, he worked for area farmers, driving trucks and combines during wheat harvest. He was a member of the American Legion and was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching television, movies and sports. He loved spending time with his nieces and nephews and helping others. He was regarded as a most unique character to all those who knew him. James is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Edward Griffith, Jr., and a nephew, Gail Lynn Browder. He is survived by one sister, Mildred Deedie Browder and husband, Bill, of Quanah, TX; four nieces, Cecelia Chism and husband, Curtis, of Vernon, TX, Ann Cochran and husband, Steve, of Duncan, OK, Pam Webb and husband, Ish, of Boswell, OK, and Jeanette Robison and husband, Verlin, of Boswell, OK; three nephews, Rick Browder and wife, Dinky, of Cisco, TX, Bruce Griffith and wife, Lisa, of Milsap, TX, Mike Griffith and wife, Pam, of Tulsa, OK; as well as a host of friends, including lifelong friend, Corky Mitchell.
