James Robert Smith, Jr.

James Robert Smith, Jr., 65, Altus, passed away on Friday, March 24, 2017 at the English Village Manor. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 28, 2017 in the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Rev. Boyd Whitehead officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.

James Robert Smith, Jr. was born on October 1, 1951 in Roswell, New Mexico to James R. and Rosa Christine (May) Smith, Sr. He served in the United States Air Force from 1976 until 1996, retiring as a Staff Sergeant. He received numerous awards including the Air Force Commendation Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal with 1 device, National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with 5 devices and the Humanitarian Service Medal. He married Myong Suk Shin in Seoul, South Korea on August 9, 1988. James was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church and enjoyed puzzles, video games and television.

His parents preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Myong Suk Smith, of the home; a daughter, Melanie Lee Smith; and two brothers, Jon Dean Smith and Justin Lee Smith.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Monday at the funeral home.

Additional parking for the service is available behind the funeral home, Days Inn to the South and Western Sizzlin' to the North.
