Janie Geneva Davis, 77, Blair, passed away Sunday, August 5, 2012 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus. Funeral services will be 10 am Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Joe Waugh officiating. A private family burial will follow services at the Blair Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home. Janie Geneva Hastings was born January 21, 1935 to James Albert and Bessie (Jordan) Hastings in Tomato, Arkansas. She attended school in Tomato, Arkansas. She married Virgil L. Davis June 24, 1950 in Oceola, Arkansas. To this union nine children were born. She was a loving wife and tireless mother who nurtured her children and kept the home. Geneva moved with her family from Blytheville, Arkansas to Altus, Oklahoma in 1969 and then to Blair, Oklahoma in 1974, where she lived ever since. She was a seamstress for many years until her medical retirement in 1992. She had also taken business classes at WOSC for one year. She was a member of the Blair Church of Christ where she taught Sunday School for several years. She enjoyed family get-togethers and watching her grandchildren grow. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four half brothers, Bill, Webster, Leon and Cleatus Jordan; a half sister, Lillian Coleman; a grandson, James David Davis and a great grandson, Lane Monday. She is survived by four daughters; Vicki and Ronnie Shatswell of Altus, OK; Marti and Mark Gilley of Elgin, OK; Janie and Frank Osborne of Sapulpa, OK; Stacey L. Davis of Blair, OK; five sons; Steven and Alice Davis of McCloud, OK; David and Debbie Davis of Altus, OK; Larry and Joni Davis of Altus, OK; Gary and Darlin’ Davis of Blair, OK; Brian and Terri Davis of Altus, OK; a brother Floyd and Rose Ann Hastings of Chandler, OK; 25 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren and many friends. The Davis family will greet friends from 6 pm to 7:30 pm Tuesday evening at Kincannon Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Relay for Life in the memory of Lane Monday. Additional parking for the funeral is available behind the funeral home, at Best Western Hotel and at Western Sizzlin’ Steakhouse.
