Jeanetta Mae Ladd, 83, long-time resident of Blair, Oklahoma, passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2024. The family will greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Thursday, September 5th, at the funeral home. Services are scheduled for 2:00 PM on Friday, September 6th, in the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Cameron Hudson and Matt Edwards officiating. Burial will immediately follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.

Jeanetta Mae Brinsfield was born in Checotah, Oklahoma to Joseph Lindsey Brinsfield and Lera Nora (Green) Brinsfield on November 21, 1940. Jeanetta grew up with her siblings, J.D., Easter Lorene, Willie Lee, Barbara Joe, and Patricia Louise “Pat”. Jeanetta and her siblings were very close while growing up. She attended first and second grade at Prairie View School just outside of Checotah. The family then relocated to Martha, Oklahoma before moving to Lancaster, Texas her sophomore year in high school. Her father was a custom crop harvester, so the family relocated frequently. They lived all over Arkansas, Illinois, and Michigan picking strawberries, peaches, and cherries but they always returned to Oklahoma for cotton harvest. Education was important to Jeanetta and in her later years she attended classes and obtained her General Education Diploma. She continued her education by attending Southwest Technology Center and Western Oklahoma State College in Altus.

She met Kenneth Neal Ladd, and they wed on June 18, 1958, in Altus. Together they raised Darla Kay, Denise Leann, and Kenneth Michael. Jeanetta was a dedicated homemaker and helped with the work on the Ladd family farm. She faithfully had meals on the table, the house cleaned, and the washing and ironing done. She even ironed her pillowcases and Kenneth’s handkerchiefs. Jeanetta could drive the tractor, plow fields, and build fences with the best of them. Her tender care for others was evident when she would bring the ostrich hatchlings into the house to keep them safe from predators. She enjoyed sewing and embroidering cup towels, attending her grandchildren’s school events, and traveling, especially the annual girl’s trip with her sisters. Jeanetta and husband, Kenneth, attend church at the Trinity Holiness Church east of Blair.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Lera; in-laws, Browder and Winnie Ladd; sisters, Barbara Martin and husband, Harold, Lorene Hilton and husband, Thomas, and Willie Brinsfield; brothers, J.D. Brinsfield and Joseph Brinsfield; great-grandson, Blaze Speer; great-granddaughter, Devyn Kerbo; brothers-in-law, Dale Davis and James Ladd.

Those left to honor Jeanetta’s memory are her adoring husband of 66 years, Kenneth; children, Darla Morrison and husband, Rick, Denise Ladd, and Mike Ladd and wife, Deana; grandchildren, Justyn Pennington and wife, Katrina, Randi Speer and husband, Michael, Amy Weeks and husband, Chris, Alisa Roberts and husband, George, Samie Heney and husband, Josh, Brandi Blevins, Tyna White, Nathan White, Rebekah Reed, John Morrison, Brandon Morrison, and Erick Morrison; great-grandchildren, RyLeigh, Baylar, Jaxyn, Kamryn, Aubrey, Landyn, Brayln, Rygan, Paxon, Zayden, Sutton, Jayden, Caleb, Devin, Skyler, Joseph, Nathan, Hanna, Grace, Hope, Braylee, Wyatt, Karson, Cooper, Jayden, Maddy, Finley, and Gunner; sister, Pat; and many wonderful nieces, nephews, and friends.
