Jeanne Gelnar, 90, former Altus resident, passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2016 in Yukon, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Monday, April 11, 2016 in the Kincannon Funeral Home with Rev. Jason Duree officiating. Burial will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home.
Jeanne Perrin was born on January 2, 1926 in Reed, Oklahoma to Roy and Thelma (Moss) Perrin. She graduated from the Vinson High School in 1945. Jeanne married Adolf Gelnar in Hobart, Oklahoma on December 1, 1951 and the two moved to Altus in 1953. Adolf passed away on December 29, 1992. She worked for Jimmy Carter Real Estate and Insurance from 1955 until 1972. During this time, she took business courses and graduated from nursing school as a certified nurse's aide in 1967. She received her real estate license in 1968. Jeanne, then, went to work for NBC Bank from 1972 until her retirement in 1986. She was a former president of the Credit Women's Breakfast Club and a member of the Women's Missionary Union and the Southside Baptist Church. She spent many years fishing and camping and made lots of friends during her lifetime. Jeanne loved to crochet, quilt and bake pecan pies.
Her parents, husband. a brother, Troy Perrin, and a sister, Peggy Ramage, preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry D. Sevier and wife, Barbara, and Jim R. Sevier and wife, Candi; four grandchildren; a brother, Dr. Joe Perrin; and two sisters, Ima Lee Sampson and Barbara Arnold and husband, Dennis.
