Jereta Kay Davis, 83, passed away peacefully with family by her side on July 29, 2024. Private, graveside services will take place at the Warren Cemetery. Memorial Services are scheduled for 10:00 AM on Thursday, August 29th, at the Warren Community Center. Arrangements are under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.

Jereta Kay Hall was born on November 8, 1940, in Warren, Oklahoma, at her grandparent’s house, to Martin Lee and Oleta Pearl (Biddy) Hall. She grew up on a farm outside of Headrick and spent most of her time in the field. She and her brother, Bryan, who is two years younger, had a lot of fun playing together and growing up on the farm together. Without all the storebought toys they had to get creative and construct toys they wanted. It seems like she played more boy games than girl games as her brother did not enjoy playing with dolls. Jereta accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at the age of 12, and she prayed many prayers for her family and friends to accept Jesus and for them to become a witness of Christ. She went to school at Headrick and graduated from Friendship after the consolidation with the Class of 1959. When all her children were in school, she decided to attend Altus Junior College and upon completion there she drove to Weatherford every day for two years. She obtained her Masters in Home Economics with a minor in business. Upon graduation she began her teaching career. She taught at Southside, Frederick, Navajo, Ranger, and Altus. Even after retirement her love for teaching continued and Jereta became a substitute teacher for Southwestern Technology Center and Navajo Public Schools. She was part of the FHA, Gideons, and SWAT for Tabacco. She enjoyed sewing and teaching others to sew, volunteering as a Gideon, and gardening. She was a very faithful member of the Altus First Baptist Church, devoting her time to teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for over 40 years.

Jereta married Harvey Petzold and together they raised three precious children, Corwin, Carrie, and Cheri. Her grandchildren were such a joy and special blessing. Weston, Whitley, Colton, Cambrie, and Seth. The five grandchildren were active at school and played many games and activities that Jereta enjoyed watching. She always looked forward to and enjoyed the time when she could be with her family. Especially family get-togethers were enjoyed with her brother and sister and their families, The Griswolds.

Jereta married DeRoy Davis on March 16, 1989, in Ranger, Texas and they enjoyed 35 years of traveling and visiting DeRoy’s family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Oleta. Jereta is survived by her husband, DeRoy Davis; son, Corwin Petzold and wife, Lisa; daughters, Carrie (Petzold) Thornton and Cheri (Petzold) Kay and husband, Greg; brother, Bryan Hall and wife, Jan; sister, Adora Hall; grandchildren, Weston Kay and wife, Carly, Whitley Nash and husband, Cody, Colton Thornton and wife, Abby, Cambrie McGrory and husband, Dakota, and Seth Petzold; great-grandchildren, Bennett Nash, Hudson Nash, Baby Kay (on the way), Tillman Thornton, Ellie Thornton, William Thornton, and Dax McGrory; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
