Judy Castle, one day shy of 93, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 25, 2024. Services will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 31st, in the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Pastor Wade Smith officiating. Burial will immediately follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
Jeweldean, lovingly known as Judy, was born on July 26, 1931, in Kaw City, Oklahoma to William Henry Lawson and Leatrus Hooker. Judy attended school in Altus and graduated with the Class of 1949. She married Billy D. Castle on August 5, 1948, at the First Baptist Church in Nederland, Texas and to this union three children were born, Patty, Peggy, and Scott. Judy worked for over 27 years at the Altus Medical Clinic before her retirement. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Altus, teaching a women’s Sunday school class for more than 25 years and serving as the children’s choir director for seven. Judy was a sports fanatic, especially college football, softball, and basketball.
She was preceded in death by her husband of over 49 years, Billy; her parents; grandson, Nathan Moss; great-grandson, Brandon Perez; and sister, Corene Lawson. Her memory lives on in her children, Patty Kirby and husband, Keith, Peggy Moss and husband, Phil, and Scott Castle and wife, Tonya; grandchildren, Kevin Kirby, Jennifer Pickett, Brad Kirby, Cara Grudowski, Christa Murphy, Megan Castle, Leslie Singer, and Haley Price; great-grandchildren, Josh Kirby, Sarah Reynolds, Braden Pickett, Emily Kate Pickett, Simon Pickett, Asher Kirby, Ava Kirby, Evan Perez, Will Murphy, Owen Murphy, Myla Murphy, Amsie Singer, and James Price; sister-in-law, Lawanda Castle Tigert ; and many other family members and treasured friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
