Jimmie Lee Hinton passed from this life into her Savior’s arms at daybreak on Friday, March 7, 2025. Jimmie was born to Elijah and Maudie (Jackson) Hyatt on June 1, 1936, in DeQuincy, Louisiana. After graduating high school Jimmie obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from McNeese State in Louisiana. She met her true love, Ardron A. Hinton, and following a whirlwind romance of only seven weeks, they married on July 29, 1957. The young couple then relocated to southwest Oklahoma.
Jimmie began her teaching career at Warren and through the years taught at schools in Oklahoma, Texas, and Louisiana. By far her longest tenure was teaching science at Navajo High School where she had the joy and privilege of introducing her students to biology, chemistry, and physics. She was the driving force behind a very successful science fair program that took many students to awards at the state and even national level. Jimmie went on to obtain a master’s degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State University. She continued sharing her love of science at Navajo School until her retirement in 1995. Many of her students still have very fond memories from the lab experiments (including some that featured minor explosions) and field trips exploring local ponds and fields.
Jimmie stood firm in her faith, and she loved the Lord. She was an active member of the Church of Christ, serving alongside her husband for years as he preached in churches in Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Texas. They traveled around the world as missionaries to what was at that time Tanganyika, and later to Malawi in Africa and many places in between. She was instrumental in helping Ardron in an extensive print ministry including a teaching bulletin called “Mountain Echos” and the “Malawi Messenger” a mission-oriented paper sent to Africa for many years.
Family was very important to Jimmie. She was a dedicated caregiver to her husband through many years of declining health. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Ardron; one son, Tommy Scott Hinton; her parents, Elijah and Maudie Hyatt; two great-grandchildren, Emily Evelyn Cassada and Jonathan Michael Cassada; and her only sibling, C.E. Hyatt and his wife Debra.
Jimmie’s memory lives on in her family including a son, Micheal Ardron Hinton and wife, Pamela. She was blessed with a host of grandchildren, Vanessa Hill and husband, Grant, Stephanie Cassada and husband, Roy, and Nicholas Hinton and wife, Bre; great grandchildren, Ethan and Maisie Hill, Adam Cassada and wife, Cintia, Madilynn Ritchal and husband, J.C., Penelope, William, Isabella, Charlie, Violet, and Gwendolyn Cassada, and Amy Hinton; and great-great grandson, Trey Ritchal. Jimmie is also survived by an extended family made up of the good people of the Warren community who have been so supportive of her through the years.
Services for Jimmie will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at the Warren Church of Christ with Minister Ron Suiter officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Warren Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests that memorials in Jimmie’s name be made to the Tipton Children’s Home, 1000 N. Broadway St, Tipton, OK 73570 or the Westview Boys Home, 120 W. Broadway St, Hollis, OK 73550. Online tributes may be made at www.kincannonfuneralhome.com.
