Jimmie W. Poss

Jimmie William Poss, formerly of Altus, Oklahoma, passed away on Friday, December 20, 2024, in Memphis, Tennessee. Services are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Thursday, January 2, 2025, in the Kincannon Memorial Chapel. Burial will immediately follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.

Jimmie entered this life on September 13, 1931, in Snyder, Texas. Born to Jimmie and Lorene (Gallaway) Poss, Jimmie was one of four children. He was raised in Anson, Texas and attended school there. Jimmie married Twylla J. Mitchell in Las Vegas, Nevada on December 2, 1968. Together they raised seven children. Faithful to his country, Jimmie enlisted into the United States Army and was a Korean War Veteran. He was a man of simple pleasures like hunting and fishing in Colorado. As he got older, Jimmie liked to take road trips and watch old western and war movies. 

He was preceded in death by his wife of 32 years, Twylla; daughter, Terri Shuman; and all siblings, Wayne Poss, Sammy Poss, and Vivian Ellis. Those left to honor his memory are his children, James Poss, Richard Poss, Mike Vaughan, Vicki Grove, Toni Weddle, and Vana Dawidow; 21 grandchildren; several great and great-great-grandchildren; and an abundance of nieces and nephews.
