Joan Dale Hollingsworth

Joan “Joni” Dale Hollingsworth, 89, Altus, passed away Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at English Village Manor. Cremation services were entrusted to Kincannon Funeral Home. Joni was born November 1, 1924 in Butte, Montana to Frank H. and Edna O. (Haney) LeSage. She graduated high school in Butte, Montana. She had been active in the Junior League in Butte, Montana for several years. Joni also graduated from Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri with a degree in Aeronautics and attained a private pilot’s license as a result. Joni married Ralph R. Nordhagen July 14, 1946 in Butte, Montana. Joni had served as a school bus driver and dispatcher for 17 years in the Covina, California public school system. One of her many distinctions was placing second in the California State School Bus Driver Rodeo. She married Harold “Hal” Hollingsworth June 16, 1973. She was also office manager for the Pomona Unity Church in Pomona, California for over five years. Joni moved to Altus in 1998 to be near her son Randy Nordhagen and his wife Debbie. While in Altus, Joni was a member of the Highland Heights United Methodist Church and had served as a volunteer at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital as a “Pink Lady” for over 12 years. She enjoyed many hobbies, including travel, reading, music, and collecting thimbles from around the world. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Edna LeSage, her brother, Frank D. LeSage, and her husband Harold L. Hollingsworth. Joni is survived by two sons, Randy Nordhagen and wife Debbie of Altus, OK; Ric (Ralph) Nordhagen of Sebastopol, CA; a stepdaughter Robin Bender; two stepsons, Dennis and Paul Hollingsworth, all of California; two grandchildren, Erica M. Nordhagen Williamson and her husband Keith, and Kevin R. Nordhagen; two great grandchildren, Lyra Alexandra Williamson and Loch Aldric Williamson; and many friends.
