Joe Lennis Boaldin, 88, Altus, passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2013 at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, December 14, 2013 in the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Tom Bailey officiating. Burial will follow in the Restlawn Cemetery under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home. Joe was born on December 10, 1925 in Eldorado, Oklahoma to A.C. “Abb” and Mae (Buchanan) Boaldin. He attended Altus High School and joined the US Navy after his junior year. He was a veteran of World War II and served during the Battle of Okinawa. After his discharge, he finished high school in 1946. He was one of eight veterans on the football team that year. He also attended Cameron Junior College. He married Betty Jo Chappell in Vernon, Texas on March 4, 1963. Joe served Jackson County as the Jackson County Sheriff from 1969 until 1989. Joe loved fishing, watching OU ball games and being with friends and family. He was a member of the Elm and Hudson Church of Christ and the Jackson County Sports Hall of Fame for boxing. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty, in 1987; five sisters, Abbie Heidebrecht and husband, Tom, Geneva Walston and husband, Jack, Dorothy Abbott and husband, Joe, Agnes Whittington and husband, Duffy, and Madge Bills and husband, George; and three brothers, James, A.C., Jr. and wife, Oleta, and Leland. Survivors include a daughter, Nita Allen and husband, Tommy; a son, Tommy Stapp and wife, Eddie; three grandchildren, Trevin Stapp, Cari Stapp and Shane Allen and wife, Nicole; two brothers, Wilmer “Bo” Boaldin and wife, Barbara, and Robert Boaldin; and a sister-in-law, Pyrlene Boaldin. The family will greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Friday evening at Kincannon Funeral Home. Additional parking for the service is available behind the funeral home, Best Western to the South or Western Sizzlin’ to the North.
