Joe Nathan Alexander, 54, Altus, passed away on Friday, November 29, 2013 at Plantation Village Nursing Home. Funeral services have been scheduled for1:00 PM, Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Pastor De’ Wayne Jones officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Altus City Cemetery Veteran’s Section under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home. Joe was born on April 5, 1959 in Altus, Oklahoma to Bennie Lee and Jurlene (Jones) Alexander. He attended Altus Schools and graduated from Altus High School in 1977. Joe played in “That Altus Band” from 6th grade through 12th grade and also played high school basketball. He enlisted in the United States Army in August of 1977. He was honorably discharged as an SP4 in October of 1990. Following his military career, Joe worked at the Jackson County Cotton Classing office in Altus, Oklahoma. He worked at Bar S in Altus as a line worker and a slicer for 17 years before he retired due to health issues. Joe was preceded in death by his grandparents. He is survived by his daughter, Lekeshia Richardson of Dallas, TX; his parents, Bennie Lee and Jurlene (Jones) Alexander of Altus, OK; three sisters, Learnethea Alexander of Altus, OK, Arealia Alexander of Altus, OK, and Wendi Jakubiak and family of Edmond, OK; a special sister, Ida Miller of Altus, OK; one brother, Vicky Alexander and wife, Tamika, of Denver, CO; seven aunts, Louise Jones of Altus, OK, Loretta Laws and husband, James, of Oklahoma City, OK, Rita May Jones of Altus, OK, Ida Maral of San Antonio, TX, Era Mae Alexander of Dallas, TX, and Ruby Watt of Killeen, TX; three uncles, Ray Jones of Altus, OK, J.C. Jones and wife, JoAnn, of Oklahoma City, OK, and Ed Jones and wife, Marcy, of Ft. Worth, TX; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Additional parking for the service is available behind the funeral home, Best Western to the South or Western Sizzlin’ to the North.
