John Stephen Carruthers

John Stephen "Stevie" Carruthers, 63, Altus, passed away Sunday, August 25 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. A family memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, August 30, 2019 at the Holy Revival Center, 519 West MLK Drive in Altus. Viewing for Mr. Carruthers is being provided through Friday, August 30, 2019 at Kincannon Funeral Home in Altus, Oklahoma. Services have been entrusted to Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
John S. Carruthers was born March 2, 1956 in Clinton, Oklahoma to Ancil and Dorothy (Furlow) Carruthers. He graduated with the Class of 1974 at Altus High School and entered the United States Army in May of 1975. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in 1978 and attended WOSC in Altus for one year. John had worked in sales at Otasco in Oklahoma City; furniture sales in Altus and as a security guard at the Oklahoma State Reformatory in Granite for several years. He married Brenda Fleming on November 20, 1998 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. John enjoyed working on cars, playing pool, working in his yard, fishing and spending time with his family.
John was preceded in death by his father, Ancil Carruthers; wife, Brenda Carruthters and his brother, DeWayne Jones. He is survived by his mother, Dorothy Carruthers; daughter, Jasmine Hall; two sons, Demetrick Carruthers and wife, Kia; and Tre' Carruthers; three brothers, Ancil Carruthers, Jr. and wife, Cheryl; Clifton Carruthers and Theo Carruthers; three sisters, LaJune Garrison, Verletta Morgan and Petra Carruthers; and many others relatives and friends.
