John Robert Winters, 76, Blair, died Saturday, July 19, 2014 at his home. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at the House of Prayer in Blair, Oklahoma with Bro. Joe Poulin, Bro. Ben Brock, Bro. Aaron Brock, Bro. Billy Ray Hudson, Bro. Mike Holden and Bro. John D. Long officiating. Burial will follow services at the Blair Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home. Robert Winters was born on June 16, 1938 in Blair, Oklahoma to Charlie and Effie (Southall) Winters. He graduated from Martha High School in 1956. Robert enlisted in the United States Army after high school and was honorably discharged in 1959. He married Margaret Collins on April 1, 1961. Robert worked for the City of Altus in the Electric Department for 32 years and retired in 1993 as the Assistant Superintendant. He was a longtime member of the Blair House of Prayer where he served as deacon for over 40 years and was also a lay minister. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, church activities and spending time with friends and family, especially his grandchildren. Robert is preceded in death by his parents; baby sister, Brenda Traffanstedt; brother-in-law, Cleo Brown; niece, Yvonne Hart; nephew, David Brown; grandparents, Tom and Maude (Hokett) Winters and Will and Mary (White) Southall.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret, of the home; four daughters, Annette Jones and husband, Gary, of Altus, OK, Sonya Poulin and husband, Joe, of Blair, OK, Karon Grossmann and husband, John, of Paden, OK and Janet Winters of Blair, OK; two sisters, Thelma Brown of Verdigis, OK and Gwen Clark and husband, Frank, of Hollis, OK; three brothers, Charles Winters and wife, Melva, of Blair, OK, Jerry Winters and wife, Mary, of Kellyville, OK and James Winters and wife, Sharon, of Harrah, OK; a brother-in-law, John Traffanstedt of Mustang, OK; seven grandchildren, Brittany Greene and husband, SSG James, of Ft. Benning, GA, Jonathan, Allison and Braden Grossmann, all of Paden, OK, Kristen Jones of Altus, OK, and Jacob and Josh Poulin, both of Blair, OK; one great granddaughter, Alexis Campbell Greene of Ft. Benning, GA; and many friends. The Winters Family will greet friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at Kincannon Funeral Home.
