John “Terrell” Riley, III, 64, Wichita, Kansas, passed away on Thursday, November 29, 2012 at his home. Memorial services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, December 15, 2012 at the Centennial Memorial Chapel at Altus City Cemetery. Inurnment will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Terrell was born on July 13, 1948 in Guthrie, Oklahoma to John, Jr. and Helen (Maloney) Riley. He attended school in Leedey, Oklahoma and graduated from Hinton High School in 1966. Terrell and his brother, Joe, had a lawn mowing business while they were in Leedey. Terrell also helped build the First United Methodist Church in Hinton. He attended Panhandle State College in Goodwell, Oklahoma for two years. He worked retail in Beaver, Oklahoma, Liberal, Kansas, and Wichita, Kansas. While in Wichita, Terrell worked for Dillon’s Supermarkets and retired in the summer of 2012. Terrell was an avid reader and a great cook. He enjoyed cooking and entertaining friends in his home. He had a green thumb and could make anything grow. Terrell painted houses and volunteered his time to paint for senior citizens. He was very skilled in woodworking, staining and refinishing woodwork. His parents, John, Jr. and Helen Riley, paternal grandparents, John and Florence Riley, and maternal grandparents, John and Anna Maloney, preceded him in death. Survivors include three sisters, Linda of Clinton, Oklahoma, Carolyn of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Ellen of Fort Worth, Texas; a brother, Joe, of Hinton, Oklahoma; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Memorial contributions may be made to the local food bank in your community.
