Joseph Vincent Urbanski, 78, of Altus, OK, passed away Thursday, December 15, 2011 at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City, OK. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Rev. Buddy Dugan and Suzanne Mollison officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, OK, under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home. Joe was born October 6, 1933 to Joseph John and Rose (Roppolo) Urbanski in New York City, NY. He graduated from Carmel High School in New York and attended the University of Southwest Louisiana. He received a Bachelor of Science in Math and Science. He also received a Masters Degree in Political Science and a Masters Degree in Business Management from Websters College. Joe joined the United States Air Force and spent a total of thirty-three years in the service, retiring as Lieutenant Colonel in March of 1983 as the Assistant Deputy Commander for Maintenance, 443rd Military Airlift Wing, Altus AFB. He married Holley Cummins Lowell on May 26, 1981 in Altus, Oklahoma. Joe was of the Roman Catholic faith. He enjoyed the arts, computers, cooking, golf and family, but as Joe said, “not necessarily in that order.” He was preceded in death by his parents. Joe is survived by his wife, Holley; three daughters, Melanie Graw and husband, Bob, of Annapolis, MD, Elizabeth Jacome and husband, Ken, of Albuquerque, NM, and Melissa Smith and husband, Zach, of Longmont, CO; three sons, Joseph Urbanski, Jr. of Altus, OK, Thomas Urbanski of Annapolis, MD, and Michael Urbanski and wife, Melanie, of Annapolis, MD; nine grandchildren, Kathryn Griffin and husband, Adam, Victoria and Madeline Graw, Amelia Urbanski, Travis Urbanski, Jacob, Isabella and Alexandra Jacome, and Holden Smith; a sister, Erica Lindsay and husband, John, of Freeport, PA; and many friends. The Urbanski Family will greet friends Tuesday evening from 5 pm to 7 pm at the Kincannon Funeral Home.
