Joyce Ward

Joyce Ward, 71, Olustee, OK, passed away November 8, 2012 at Comanche County Memorial Hospital in Lawton, OK. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, November 23, 2012 at the Olustee Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home. Joyce was born January 13, 1941 to George W. and Ruby Jewell (Manus) Gifford in Grandfield, OK. She graduated from Grandfield High School, Grandfield, OK. October 17, 1955, Joyce married Billie E. Ward in Grandfield, OK. Billie passed away December 3, 1987. She was a medication nurse for 20 years and then worked in the Olustee School Kitchen for 10 years. She was a member of the Prairie Hill Baptist Church, the Order of the Eastern Star, and the Olustee Community Action. One of her favorite pastimes included stamp collecting. Mrs. Ward was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, Billy E. Ward Jr., two daughters, Deborah Sue Ward and Linda Ford, one granddaughter, Heather Rena Ford, one sister, Pauline Strain, and a brother, Eugene Gifford. She is survived by a granddaughter, Melissa Von Wert of Schenectady, NY; two sisters, Jody Quinday of Fresno, CA, and Pam Gibson of Walnut Grove, CA; five brothers, Ronnie Gifford of Cold Springs, NV, Jerry Gifford and wife, Carol, of Cold Springs, NV, Phillip Gifford and wife, Lou Anne, of Princeton, Wisconsin, Gordon Gifford of Altus, OK, and Tommy Gifford of Altus, OK; five great-grandchildren, Jason Von Wert, Hailey Von Wert, Joe Lei Von Wert, Joey Von Wert, Titus John Von Wert; a cousin, Bonnie Stengard of Altus, OK; and several nieces and nephews.
