Julia Irene Dismore, 92, Altus, passed away on Friday, January 20, 2017 at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 25, 2017 in the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Rev. Doug Altom officiating. Burial will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home.
Julia Irene Richardson was born on March 27, 1924 in Snyder, Oklahoma to John Harvel and Maudie Irene (Adams) Richardson. She lived in the Kiowa County area with her parents and sister, Joyce, until they moved to the River Bend, northeast of Headrick. They lived in the Twin Elm area and went to school and church there for many years until they went to school in Headrick. The families there were bound together in love, friendship and caring. There were hard times going through the Depression and World War II. She married Lyman Lawrence "Pete" Dismore on June 29, 1940 at the river bridge on the Kiowa and Jackson County line. They were blessed with two kids, Sharon Janelle and Larry Ronald, both born in Altus, Oklahoma. In 1945, the family packed up and moved to Phoenix, Arizona to work for family there. Rebecca Sue "Becky" and John Randolph were born there before moving back to the farm in 1950. The family worked hard to raise cattle, horses and kids. Julia was a member of the First Baptist Church in Headrick and was the oldest living member until her death. She enjoyed gardening and didn't really want to do anything else but be a good wife, raise good kids and chickens.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Pete, in 1997, a son, John Randolph Dismore, in 2014, grandson, William Lacy, in 1978, and her sister, Joyce Colleen Harrold, in 2012.
Survivors include three children, Sharon Janelle Lacy and husband, Gerald "Jerry", Larry Ronald Dismore and wife, Nita, and Rebecca Sue "Becky" McCandless and husband, Eddie; a daughter-in-law, Vicki Dismore; 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and one great great grandson, Loki Lacy; and many other step-grandchildren, step-great grandchildren, step-great great grandchildren; as well as other family members and friends.
Additional parking for the service is available behind the funeral home, Days Inn to the South and Western Sizzlin' to the North.
