Katherine Starwalt, 88, Blair, passed away at her home, Wednesday, May 24, 2011. Services will be held 2:00 PM, Friday, May 27, 2011, at the Blair First Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at the Blair Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home. Katherine Charlene Culbreath was born to G.L. and Louise (Dixon) Culbreath at Brinkman, Oklahoma on April 11, 1923. She grew up as a farmer’s daughter in Mangum, OK. She graduated from Midway High School, northwest of Blair, in 1941. While in school, Katherine played basketball and was considered a very good player. She married Mabry Starwalt on January 9, 1943, in Mangum, OK. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Blair where she was active in the choir. She enjoyed Sunday school and all church activities. Katherine was a homemaker noted for her yard full of beautiful flowers and her decorating skills. She was also a very talented shopper of beautiful clothes. Katherine is preceded in death by her husband, Mabry Starwalt, her parents, G.L. and Louise Culbreath, three brothers, G.L. Culbreath, Jr., Jack Culbreath, Ralph Culbreath, and a grandson, Dusty Curtis. She is survived by two daughters, Jan McMinn Curtis-Starwalt and husband, Berlin Starwalt, of Fort Worth, TX, and Joanna Charlene Southall and husband, Stan Southall, of Blair, OK; a son Jerry Mabry Starwalt and wife, Dorothy Starwalt, of Mesquite, TX; seven grandchildren, Sumer Curtis Searcy and husband, J. Searcy, of Fort Worth, TX, Craig Curtis of Fort Worth, TX, Todd Starwalt and wife, Terri Starwalt, of Kaufman, TX, Mary Katherine Ladwig and husband, Mike Ladwig, of Talty, TX, Elizabeth “Libby” Jackson of St. Louis, MO, Jerri Ann King and husband, Paul King, of Godley, TX, and Julie Paul of Mustang, OK; and eleven great-grandchildren, and a great-great granddaughter due in July. The Starwalt family will greet friends, Thursday, May 26, 2011 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Kincannon Funeral Home.
