Kathryn Farmer Oden

Kathryn Virginia Farmer Oden, 81, of Altus, Oklahoma, went to be with her Lord the morning of August 13, 2012. Funeral services will be held at the Kincannon Memorial Chapel in Altus, OK on Thursday, August 16, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home. Kathryn was born October 14, 1930 in Greer County, Oklahoma to Walter Dale “Jack” Farmer and Dele Bell Killingsworth Farmer. She married J. V. Oden on September 3, 1950 in Mangum, Oklahoma. Kathryn was a loving wife for nearly 62 years and shop and book-keeper for Oden Floor Covering in Altus, OK. She was faithful to Jesus Christ and His Church her whole life. A cherished family item is a 78 rpm recording of radio broadcast gospel songs by the Sunshine Duet of Rhonda Hughes and Kathryn Farmer. She is preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Irene Sanders of Mangum, and three brothers, Lawson Farmer of Missouri, Jackie Farmer of Ada, and George William “Dub” Farmer of Amarillo. She is survived by her loving husband, J. V. Oden; four sisters, Margie Holman of California, Gladys Moore of Texas, Joyce Leamon of Texas, and Martha Burke of Oklahoma; two brothers, Edward Farmer of California and Randall Farmer of Texas; two children, Teresa Oden-Peace and husband, Tom, of Houston, and Jan Ivan Oden and wife, Cindy, of Altus; grandchildren, Jandi McLaughlin and husband, Mitch, of Blair, Joel Oden and wife, MaKinzie, of Enid, and Jaclyn Oden-Peace of Houston; and great grandchildren, Asher and Jalea McLaughlin. A family visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be sent to Family Life Church, 1901 Falcon Road, Altus, OK 73521. Additional parking for the funeral is available behind the funeral home, at Best Western Hotel and at Western Sizzlin’ Steakhouse.
