Kenneth Chapman, 84, Altus, passed away March 7, 2015. Celebration of Life services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at Altus Christian Fellowship with Dick Chapman officiating. Services have been entrusted to Kincannon Funeral Home. He was born April 10, 1931 to the parents of Ester and Russell Chapman of Elmer, Okla. Kenneth and Carolyn Howard were united in marriage in 1949. They had been married sixty five years when Kenneth passed away. Kenneth lived and farmed in Jackson County all his life. He was a 1950 graduate of Southside High School. A lot of fond memories were made on a baseball fields and basketball courts. He was a great athlete with lots of stories about times spent with his teams. He was dedicated to hard work, doing what he loved. He was gifted with his hands with an ability to understand machinery and how to use it. What others considered as work he considered as fun and a challenge. He had the determination and drive to see a job to completion. He loved his family, a dedicated father and grandfather hence forth the name "Grand". He will always be remembered by his family as never meeting a stranger, expressing his opinion at their sporting events, making family trips a memory, his can fix it attitude and his love for farming. It could easily be said, “he lived his life doing what he loved and enjoyed to the end, a life not wasted." He was married to Carolyn Howard in 1949, they had been married 65 years. Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Esther Chapman; two brothers, Troy Chapman and Earl Chapman; father-in-law, Lester Howard; and mother-in-law, Leticia Howard. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn, of Altus Oklahoma; 2 sons, David and wife, Lynette, of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Dick and wife, Opal, of Altus, Oklahoma; 2 daughters, Patrice Thompson and husband, Bob, of Canyon, Texas and Nancy Dufresne and husband, Ed (deceased), of Murrieta, California; thirteen grandchildren, Joshua Chapman and wife, Hannah, of Edmond, Oklahoma and Taylor Chapman and wife, Adrianne, of San Diego, California, Angela Rogers and husband, Clint, of Altus, Oklahoma, Michelle Gallagher and husband, Daniel, of Trophy Club, Texas, Rebecca Snyder and husband, Ryan, of Altus, Oklahoma, Kathryn Chapman of Altus, Oklahoma, Elizabeth Schettler and husband, Jesse, of Owasso, Oklahoma and Heather Kirby and husband, Kory, of Altus, Oklahoma, Amy Powell and husband, Tony, of Amarillo, Texas, Melissa Hotchkiss and husband, Jared, of Canyon, Texas, Grayson Thompson of Canyon, Texas, Stephen Dufresne and wife, Morgan, of Murrieta, California and Grant Dufresne of Murrieta, California; and fifteen great-grandchildren, Abigail, Evangeline, Bryson, Genevieve, Hudson, Adelaide, Arthur, Kennedy, Eric, Caleb, Wesley, Emmilee, Kate, Liam, Stephen.
