Kenneth Ray West, 71, Altus, passed away Friday, February 3, 2012 in Oklahoma City, OK. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Saturday, February 11, 2012 at the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Rev. Robert Bostic officiating. Burial will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home. Kenneth Ray West was born November 11, 1940 in Temple, Oklahoma to Marcus Nathaniel, Sr. and Jerlene Julia West. He had four brothers and six sisters and attended Lincoln High School in Altus, OK. He exchanged marriage vows with Margaret (Heard) West on May 6, 1983. Both were blessed with only one baby girl, named Kymberly. Kenneth was a faithful member of the New Hope Baptist Church since his childhood, and then later joined membership at St. John Baptist Church in Altus, OK. He was employed at the Sagamar Hotel, Friendship Inn Restaurant, Mark Hatton’s Texaco and worked several years at Southwest Metal & Trade Co. He loved attending church, singing, dancing, and spending time with friends and family (especially his new grandbaby!) This special father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend will be truly missed by everyone’s heart he touched. The family wants to give a special thanks to Mr. Rick Bryant at the Towers Apts., Dr. Perez and Dr. Zachary’s offices of Altus, Lincare, Jackson County Memorial Hospital ICU staff, Dr. McGarry at the Mercy Heart Hospital, Dr. Nagle and Dr. Aly at Baptist Hospital, and Dr. Mohammad and staff at Select Specialty Hospital, all of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Mr. West is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret West, his parents, Marcus and Jerlene West, two brothers, Matthew and Raymond West, and two sisters, Bernice Sneed and Bettie Tubbs. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Kymberly and Antonio Curry of Oklahoma City, OK; three grandchildren, Deonte’, Ke’Von and A’zyah Curry, all of Oklahoma City, OK; four sisters, Charlene Walker and husband, Leroy, of Altus, OK, Lillie Reed and husband, Harry, of Elgin, SC, Wilda Jean Holzmer and husband, Dave, of Ft. Worth, TX, and Katie Edwards of Lawton, OK; two brothers, Marcus West, Jr. and wife, Sharon, of Altus, OK, and James West and wife, Jackie, of Columbus, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, and a special friend, Lana Duncan. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Friday at the funeral home.
