Koelle Hunter

Koelle Hunter, 89, Altus, passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at her home. Graveside services will be at 1:00 PM Saturday, April 29, 2023 in the Tipton Cemetery with Steven Gillispie officiating. Burial will be under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.

Koelle Jones was born on December 31, 1933 in Tipton, Oklahoma to Lee and Dollie (Holbrook) Jones. She grew up in Tipton and graduated from Laing School in 1952. Koelle attended Oklahoma A & M before marrying Francis Patrick “Pat” Hunter in Altus, Oklahoma on May 23, 1959. She worked as the Wing Commander’s Executive Secretary at Altus Air Force Base for more than 30 years before retiring. Koelle and Pat moved to Phoenix, Arizona for a short time, where Koelle worked for the State of Arizona. They moved back to Altus in 1994 but Koelle couldn’t stay idle long. She would go on to work for more than 20 years at the Altus Board of Education before finally retiring for good. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, putting her servant’s heart to work. She also substitute taught at the Altus Junior High School. Koelle loved to cook and be surrounded by her family. She cherished the moments spent with her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and daughter, Kathleen Koelle Marshall.

Survivors include her son, BG (Retired) Rodney “Kim” Hunter and wife, Cindy; a son-in-law, Charles Marshall; four grandchildren, Aaren Hunter Landry, Patrick Marshall and wife, Brittany, Hunter Marshall, and Meredith Marshall and her partner, Tristan Zittenfield; two great grandchildren, Amberlea K. Landry and Phoenix Ealy; and a nephew, Charles Crockett.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Friday, April 28, 2023 at the Kincannon Funeral Home.
