Larry McDowell

Larry McDowell, 63, passed away at his home in Abilene, Texas Wednesday, June 14, 2017. Graveside services with full military honors have been scheduled for 10:00 AM, Friday June 16 at the Altus City Cemetery with Rev. Doug Altom officiating . Services have been entrusted to Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.

Larry Michael McDowell was born May 13, 1954 to Jack and Arlene (Weathers) McDowell in Frederick, Oklahoma. He graduated from Frederick High School, Frederick, Oklahoma, in 1972. Larry served his country in the United States Air Force as a C-130 Crew Chief and Master Mechanic. He was honorably discharged in 1998 following twenty four years of service. Larry also served as a private contractor for Marshall Aerospace in Cambridge, England for four years . Upon his return to the United States, Larry bought a farm in Shawnee, Oklahoma, producing hay, and working with his cattle and horses. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing and being outdoors.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents and son, Casey McDowell. He is survived by his wife, Amber McDowell; one daughter, Hollie McDowell; two sons, Kevin McDowell and wife, Mary; Calvin McDowell and wife, Jennifer; six grandchildren, Kalli, Kason, Kaleb, Kathleen, William and Nick; three sisters, Phyllis Nesbit and husband, A.J.; Brenda Smith and husband, LaVerne, and Sandra Whitehead and husband Paul; two brothers, Grady McDowell and Joe McDowell; a special friend, Bruce Morey and wife, Rebecca and many other friends and relatives.
