Lathon Harry Johnson, 79, Altus, Oklahoma passed away January 3, 2013 in the VA Center in Clinton, Oklahoma. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 7, 2013 at the Navajoe Cemetery with Madison Clinton officiating. Services are under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home. Lathon was born July 18, 1933 to Thomas G. and Golden H. (Mantooth) Johnson in Post, Texas. He graduated from Post High School in 1950 and attended Texas Tech University. He spent two years serving our country in the United States Army. Lathon married Verna Mae Biddy July 20, 1955 in Carlsbad, New Mexico. He worked for AT&SF Railway for over thirty-seven years and retired as a signal supervisor. He was of the Baptist faith, enjoyed reading, fishing, and spending time with his grandkids. Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Thomas, Norman, Daniel and Clifford Johnson. He is survived by his wife, Verna, of the home; three sons, David Johnson and wife, Bette, of North Richland Hills, TX; Dennis Johnson of Amarillo, TX; Dan Johnson and wife, Debbie, of Blanchard, OK; one brother, Lee Johnson and wife, Anne, of Beaumont, TX; one sister, Eydie Middleton and husband, Ronnie, of Tulia, TX; eight grandchildren, Kimberly Ward and husband, Scott, of Roanoke, TX; Courtney King and husband, Mike, of Boerne, TX; Kaitlyn Johnson of Blanchard, OK; Michael Ayres and wife, Jessica, of Abilene, TX; Michelle Camp and husband, David, of Blanchard, OK; Melissa Ayres of North Carolina; Mark Johnson of Altus, OK; April Johnson of Amarillo, Texas and eight great-grandchildren. The Johnson Family will greet friends Sunday afternoon from 3 - 5pm at Kincannon Funeral Home.
