Lawrence Leone "Larry" Andrew, a devoted husband, proud patriot, and masterful craftsman, passed away peacefully at his home in Altus, Oklahoma, on March 26, 2025, after a courageous battle with chronic heart disease. Born on August 19, 1940, in Olathe, Kansas, to Charles Leslie and Ruth Virginia (Obrien) Andrew, Larry lived a life filled with purpose, service, and an unshakable love for family and country.
He spent four years in the United States Army, with duty stations at Fort Knox, Kentucky, and San Antonio, Texas. Following an honorable discharge, he continued his service in a different way—as a dedicated Civil Servant for the United States Air Force. Over the next three decades, he rose through the ranks as a Human Resource Specialist, eventually earning a prestigious assignment at Headquarters Air Force, Pentagon, Washington, D.C. Larry attended college courses at night for several years, earning his bachelor’s degree at Texas State University.
It was a temporary duty in Alabama that fate brought him to Brenda Ford, the love of his life. The couple married in Seguin, Texas, on May 27, 1983, embarking on a journey filled with adventure, laughter, and unwavering companionship. Together, they explored the world, making memories in every corner they visited.
Larry had a craftsman’s soul—his hands were rarely idle. Whether he was meticulously shaping wood in his shop, bringing classic cars back to life, or simply tinkering with whatever needed fixing, his passion for creation was evident. He took pride in his work, but even more so in the people he shared it with.
Larry’s presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love, service, and craftsmanship will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
His parents, Charles and Ruth; brother, Richard Andrew; and sister, Charlotte Wright precede Larry in death. His memory will live on in his wife of 42 years, Brenda; son, Anthony Andrew; daughter, Leslie Andrew Cook; grandchildren, Marissa Reimher, Nickolas Andrew, McKenna Cook, and Savannah Cook; stepdaughter, Jodi Mains Lee; stepson, Jay Paul Hurley and wife, Meghan; grandchildren, Brendan Snodgrass, Danen Lloyd, Stellan Hurley, Veyda Hurley, and Michelle Thornton whom Larry was particularly close to and who will miss her Papa tremendously; mother-in-law, Bonetta Steensgard; and many other family and friends.
