Leroy Walker, 84, Altus, passed away Sunday, October 28, 2018 at English Village Nursing Home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, November 1, 2018 at Kincannon Funeral Home with Bishop Victor West and Pastor Tyrone Campbell officiating. Burial will follow services at the Fort Sill National Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
Leroy Walker was born December 2, 1933 in Jarrett, Virginia to Mr. and Maude (Garrison) Walker. He graduated high school in Brooklyn, New York in 1951 and entered the United States Air Force the same year. Leroy married Sadie Every on December 17, 1955, and remarried Charlene West on April 6, 1966. He retired as a Tech Sergeant in 1971 and continued working at Altus Air Force Base as a Civil Service Engineer for 12 years, retiring in 1983. Leroy continued his education at Western Oklahoma State College and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Religion from Lee College of Divinity. Leroy was Pastor of the Victory Temple Full Gospel Church until his retirement from the pulpit in the 1990s, when Sister Charlene continued their ministry. Leroy continued to share Christ with all others the rest of his life. He was a licensed aircraft pilot and spent many hours in the air. Above all, Leroy wanted to help others. He enjoyed visiting, flying airplanes, working on cars, music and spending time with family and friends.
Leroy was preceded in death by his parents, seven siblings and a grandson, Denton Walker. He is survived by his wife, Charlene Walker; one daughter, Desiree Walker; three sons, Leroy Walker and wife, DeAnn; Tito Walker and David Walker; one sister, Antoinette Randall; thirteen grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and many friends.
