Lillie Mae Clendennen, 88, formerly of Altus, passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at her daughter's home in Crestview, Florida. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, April 21, 2018 at the Kincannon Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow services in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
Lillie Mae Ballou was born October 4, 1929 near Eldorado, Oklahoma to Johnny Albert and Birdie Opal Ballou. She married George Edward Clendennen on November 11, 1945 in Olustee, Oklahoma. They lived in Sweetwater, Texas for a time. After George got out of the Army, they had a photo business, where they painted photo pictures by hand. In 1952, they moved to Altus where she chopped and pulled cotton to help pay the bills. She also worked as a waitress and a housewife for many years. She was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed painting, animals, gardening, growing her flowers and being outside most of the time.
Lillie was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Edwin Albert Clendennen; two sisters, Stella Critchfield and Wanda Faye Ballou; a brother, Gail Ballou; and two grandsons, Timothy Edwin Clendennen and Billy Joe Linden.
She is survived by two daughters, Susan Kay Brand and husband, James and Loretta Mae Hillard; one son, Alvin Edward Clendennen and wife, Sharon; a daughter-in-law, Connie Clendennen; grandchildren, Kimberly Febb, Chris Marsh, Stephanie Marsh, David Marsh and wife, Amy, Jon Dickenson and wife, Brandy, Rebecca Whatley, Thomas Clendennen and wife, Tracy, Tina Kendall and husband, Michael, Eddie Ray Clendennen and wife, Kaleigh, Tonya, Rachel and Hypatia Brand; numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; and one sister, Doris Wright.
The family will greet friends on Friday from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
