Lola A. Santiago, 91, Altus, passed away Saturday, July 16, 2022 at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital. A private family graveside service will be held at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
Lola was born January 25, 1931 in Braxton County, West Virginia to Orin and Elva (Perrine) Petry and graduated high school there with the Class of 1949. Following high school, she entered the United States Air Force the same year and was honorably discharged two years later in 1951. Lola married John Santiago on January 22, 1951 in San Antonio, Texas and had celebrated 71 years of marriage.
She was a loving wife and mother who worked tirelessly in the home to provide for her family. Lola enjoyed feeding the birds in her yard and was fond of Country and Western music, especially, Marty Robbins. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family.
Lola was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; one sister; and her grandson, Jeffrey Santiago. She is survived by her husband, John Santiago, Sr; two sons, John Santiago, Jr. and wife, Cindy; and Edward Santiago and partner, Tracy Herzog; six grandchildren, Jennifer Ray and husband, Ben; Carolyn Jaramillo and husband, Greg; Patricia Miranda “Mandy” Santiago, Joshua Santiago, Skylar Santiago, and Zoey Santiago; several great grandchildren and many friends.
