Loretta Dorothy Marie (Totten) McQuiggan, 82, Altus, passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2013 in LaVale, Maryland. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Friday, September 27, 2013 at the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Bobby Laws officiating. Burial will be in the Eldorado Cemetery under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home. Loretta Dorothy Marie Totten was born on February 17, 1931 in St, Louis Missouri to Halleck and Daisy (Burkett) Totten. She married Harvey Hugh McQuiggan on December 4, 1948 in St Louis, Missouri while Harvey was serving in the United States Air Force. While raising 5 children, Loretta began work as a Billeting Housekeeper on Altus Air Force Base in 1969. She was promoted to Assistant Billeting Manager in 1972 and in 1975 she was promoted to the position of Base Billeting Manager. During her career, Loretta received numerous awards and recognitions including the Quality Salary Increase for superior performance in 1971 and 1986. She was Military Airlift Command’s nominee for Congressional Award for exemplary service to the public in 1981. Loretta was instrumental in the outstanding rating Altus AFB Billeting received during the Operational Readiness Inspection and that contributed directly to Altus Billeting receiving the 1986 Rex Riley Award for excellence in billeting. Her twenty years of dedication and hard work earned her the title of “Ms. Hospitality of the Military Airlift Command.” Loretta retired from the Billeting office on September 29, 1989. She was of the Christian Faith. She enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling and all aspects of the Eastern Star chapter 49 where she was an active member.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Harvey.
She is survived by a son, Daniel McQuiggan and wife, Karen, of Mustang OK; four daughters, Linda Silver and husband, Richard, of Valrico FL, Roxanne Damron of Altus OK, Jacqueline Ward and husband, Ken, of LaVale MD, and Laura Weldon of Altus OK; a brother, Stephen Totten and wife, Sandra, of St Louis, MO; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Thursday at the Kincannon Funeral Home.
