Lt. Col. (Retired) William Molton, Jr., 76, Altus, passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at his home. A Celebration of Life service will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with family and friends sharing comments. Memorial services and cremation services have been entrusted to the Kincannon Funeral Home. William was born August 23, 1938 in Detroit, Michigan to William and Ivy (Simpson) Molton. He graduated from Central High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana in 1956. He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics from Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. William enlisted in the United States Air Force in April of 1959 and served in Vietnam as a combat flight navigator. His distinguished 29 year military career included Officer Training School, Combat Aircrew Training, Technical Instructor Training, Navigator Airdrop Mission C-141, Basic and Advanced Navigator School. His leadership skills were exemplified as he served as Chief Navigator, Unit Flight Examiner Navigator, Chief Combat Tactics Instructor, Wing Emergency Action Officer, Squadron Commander and Flight Planner. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross; Air Medal with 13 Devices; Air Force Commendation Medal with Three Oak Leaf Clusters; Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal; Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon with Six Oak Leaf Clusters; National Defense Service Medal; Air Force Overseas Long Tour Ribbon with One Device; Air Force Overseas Short Tour Ribbon; Air Force Training Ribbon; Vietnam Service Medal with One Device; Air Force Presidential Unit Citation with One Device; Air Force Outstanding Unit Award With Five Devices; Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross With Device and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. Lt. Col. Molton retired from the United States Air Force in June of 1988. A grateful nation thanks him for his service to his country and his efforts to provide the freedoms we enjoy today. Following Mr. Molton's military career he continued working with Flight Safety at Altus Air Force Base from 1989 until 2001 when he retired. William was of the Christian belief and enjoyed traveling, playing chess, playing bingo and trips to Las Vegas with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Beverly. He is survived by his wife, Ann; two daughters, Delicia Sorensen and husband, James; and Debra Teinert; one son, Barry Molton and wife, Wanda; six sisters, Frances, Monica, Charlene, Aletha, Noel and Carol; six brothers, Curtis, Milton, Tommy, Earl, Lavon, and Charles; seven grandchildren, Ryan Molton, Justin Molton, Jake Sorensen, Reina Sorenson and James Sorenson, IV, Colton Teinert and Yvonne Kline and husband, Avery; many Air Force and Flight Safety coworkers, friends, family and neighbors.
