Luella Mae "Lou" Williams, 79, of Altus, Oklahoma, passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. The family will formally greet friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM on Monday, December 16th. Services for Lou will be held in the Kincannon Memorial Chapel at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, December 17th, with Pastor Ellen Williams Scott officiating. Burial will follow at 2:00 PM at Fort Sill National Cemetery in Elgin. Services are under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
Lou was born to Arthur J. Severe and Elise Mae (Feathers) on November 9, 1945, in Thornton, West Virginia. She graduated from the Class of ’66 in Grafton, WV. On June 23, 1966, Lou married the love of her life, Virgil Leroy Williams, in Oakland, Maryland. They spent 58 beautiful years together raising two daughters over the years.
Lou was a member of many things throughout her life. She was part of the Highland Heights Methodist Church, Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, and the American Legion Auxiliary. She served as the Commander of the DAV Aux for 21 years, also serving as the American legion Aux President for several years. Lou loved sewing, baking, cooking, being around her family and grandchildren, and traveling with her husband to different countries and states throughout his Air Force career. She was an active supporter of the Disabled American Veterans and Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary.
Lou is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Elise Severe; sister, Betty Lou Severe; brother, Clarence Severe; and niece, Kimberly Peterson.
Left to cherish Lou’s memory is her loving husband, Virgil; daughters, Becky Dorman and husband, Larry and Peggy Sue Williams; mother-in-law, Arvella Mote; siblings, William “Bill” Severe and wife, Mary Ellen Severe, Sharon Watkins and husband, John, and Audrey Williams; grandchildren, James M. Williams, Nathan Paniagua, Brett Paniagua and wife, Baylay, Michael Rambo, and Elijah Rambo; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
