Luther James West, Sr., 84, Altus passed away Tuesday morning, March 10, 2015 at English Village Manor. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 PM, Saturday, March 14, 2015 at the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Bishop Victor West and Reverend Eric West officiating. Burial will follow services at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home. Luther was born on October 6, 1930 to Jesse W. and Mildred (Ballard) West in Temple, OK. He married Ruby Wilson in 1959. She precede him in death. He then married Minerva West. He was a welder, farm worker, concrete worker, electrical worker and was a chauffeur. He was a co-pastor and an evangelist for over forty years. Luther loved helping others and being with family and friends. He enjoyed playing the harmonica and tap dancing. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge King Solomon #7 in Altus, OK as well as a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Ruby; a son, Luther J. West, Jr.; daughter, Frances Ganaway; sisters Edna Sterling and Jessie Williams; brothers, Claude, Leotis, Walter, Willis, Cecil, Harold, Frank, and David West. Luther leaves behind one daughter, Phyllis West, of Colorado Springs, CO; two sons, Leothis West of Altus, OK and Cleothis West of Weatherford, OK; a stepdaughter, Carita Dorsey and husband, Everett, of Altus, OK; sister, Sherry Dykes and husband, Willie, of Altus, OK; brother, Bobby J. West of Altus, OK; sisters-in-law, Mary West of Oklahoma City, OK and Geneva West of Altus, OK. He also leaves two grandchildren, Chrishaud and wife, Kerri, and Tiffany; two great-grandchildren; four step-grandsons, Jamal, Shawn, Rapheal and Terrance; as well as numerous other family and friends.
