Marcus Tyrone West, Jr. was born on October 25, 1950, in Altus to Marcus Nathaniel West and Jerlene Julian West. He attended Lincoln High School in Altus. Marcus enlisted into the United States Air Force in the early 1970s, later retiring from the Army National Guard. He married his beautiful bride, and companion for life, Sharon Margaret Barron on March 3, 1968, in Hot Springs, Arkansas and to this union three sons were born, Marcus III, Kevin and Keith. They made their way back to Altus and Marcus worked in civil service at Altus Air Force Base, but his heart was sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. As the Pastor of New Beginnings Full Gospel Ministries in Altus his tender care of parishioners and visiting the sick was seen by all.
