Maria DeJesus Mata Gonzalez

Maria DeJesus Mata Gonzalez, 68, longtime Altus resident, passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Funeral mass will be 10:00 AM Saturday, September 12, 2015 in the Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Burial will follow services at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home.

Maria was born on July 6, 1947 in Sebastian, Texas to Eusebio and Aurelia (Arias) Mata. She married Teodoro Gonzalez on February 13, 2015 in Vernon, Texas. Maria lived in Altus all of her life and loved being with her family. She was of the Catholic faith and enjoyed collecting angels.

She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, Feliciano, Isidro, Eusebio, Jr., Pablo and Aurelio Mata; and one sister, Guadalupe Tamez.

Survivors include her husband, Teodoro, of the home; two sisters, Juana Ruiz of Altus, OK and Maria Salazar of Hobart, OK; and many nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

A rosary service will be held at 7:00 PM Thursday, September 10, 2015 at the Kincannon Memorial Chapel.
